Education:

The Key to a Healthy Community

Education empowers people to make better decisions about their lives. It plays a crucial role in pregnancy preparedness, sexually transmitted infections, unhealthy relationships and more.

We Bring Health Education to You

At Finger Lakes Community Health, we are not only healers and providers, we are health educators and advocates. Education is a regular part of the patient visit at our health centers. In addition, our team does community outreach. Our Health Advocates address parents, schools, churches, health and human service agencies, and community groups using evidence-based, medically accurate information. Upon request, we can provide specialized curriculums to teachers and schools, using books, videos, and other materials. Our programs are free and designed to get people talking about issues in an open and non-judgmental forum.

Our health education topics may include any of the following:

  • Healthy Sexuality
  • Healthy Relationships
  • Consent
  • Abstinence and Pregnancy Preparedness
  • Teen Development
  • Peer Pressure
  • Body Image and Self Esteem
  • Decision-making Skills
  • Adolescent and Adult Sexual Health
  • Ovulation Tracking
  • HIV/AIDS
  • The R.E.A.L. Program for Youth
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)
  • Communication
  • Goals and priorities

We also offer evidence-based programs, such as:
