Our School-Based Dental Program

Dental services are now at several schools in the Finger Lakes!

We are excited to announce that Finger Lakes Community Health is collaborating with several area school districts again this year to bring dental services to your child during school hours!

Routine dental care is important, but we know how difficult it can be to make time for these appointments while juggling your family’s needs. By offering these services during school hours, everybody wins — especially your child!

A list of participating schools can be found below. Each school has it’s own enrollment packet. Be sure to click on the link for your child’s specific school.

How does it work?

To put it simply, the dentist’s office is going to your child instead of your child going to the dentist’s office! Your child will be seen at school in a safe, comfortable setting that is familiar to them. Our dentist and/or hygienist will meet with your child and perform the services that you select.

Parents can choose from this list of dental services:

  • Examination by the dentist (checking for cavities and gum disease)
  • Free dental screening, toothbrush, floss and oral hygiene instruction
  • Teeth cleaning, toothbrush, floss and oral hygiene instruction
  • Fluoride treatment (a coating to increase protection against cavities)
  • X-Rays (to see if there are any cavities)
  • Sealants (a covering to protect the teeth from getting cavities)

We welcome parents to accompany their child to these appointments, however, when this isn’t possible we can proceed with the appointment with your permission. If further work is needed, we will reach out to you to discuss your options.

What is the cost?

If you have dental health insurance, you will only be responsible for your deductible. If you don’t have insurance, we offer generous discounts based on your income.
